Where the service runs, as a table: region code in mono with the city under it, because people type the code and remember the city. State in words with its dot. Latency is an inline bar scaled to the slowest region with the value after it, so Singapore at five times the others is obvious before the number is read.

The same data as tiles for a dashboard header. Tiles share hairlines rather than gaps, like the metrics grid. A standby region fades to the faint ink so it reads as off, not broken.

ClassOnWhat it does
.rgnspanA region cell: the code in mono, never broken, then a <small> city.
.latspanInline bar and value. --v from 0 to 1 against the slowest row; --lat-w sets the bar width (5rem). .warn, .down.
.regionsulTiles split by hairlines, 11.5rem minimum.
.regions > liliCode and dot in <b>, place and state in a <span>, then a .lat. .down tints it, .idle fades it.
Do
  • The provider code and a city. "ap-south-1" alone means nothing to half the room.
  • Latency measured from users, and say so in the column head.
  • Standby regions in the list, marked as standby.
Don't
  • A world map for six regions. A table is faster to read and works on a phone.
  • Flags for regions. A data centre is not a country.
  • Sorting by latency during an incident; keep the order stable so people can find their region.

Accessibility

  • The latency value is printed next to its bar; the bar only helps comparison.
  • State is a word next to every dot.
